How does laser cutting wood not blacken?

Laser cutting wood has the advantages of high precision, narrow cutting seam, high speed and smooth cutting surface. However, because the laser focused energy melts the wood, there will be blackening in the cutting process, that is, the cutting edge is carbonized. Today, the laser application expert of LEIYU laser tells you how to reduce or even avoid this situation.

First of all, it is difficult to cut thick wood without blackening. After my test and summary, the template cutting with a thickness of less than 5mm can not blacken much, while the template cutting with a thickness of more than 5mm depends on the situation. The following details how to make the laser cutting wood not blacken:

Maybe we all know that to avoid the carbonization effect of laser cutting, we should use high speed and low power, which is right, but some misunderstandings. They think the faster the better, the lower the power, the better. In order to reduce blackening, they cut many times with high speed and low power. This is very bad, and the carbonization effect may be darker than the general one.

Our low power and fast must ensure that the wood can be cut through at one time. On the premise of being able to cut through, the faster the better, and the lower the power, the better. However, if multiple cutting is required to reduce the power, the carbonization phenomenon is actually more serious. Because the cut through part will be burned twice, the more times it is cut, the more serious the carbonization is.

The first cut through part was burned again during the second cut. The other part is not so black because it was not cut through for the first time.

Therefore, the first thing to pay attention to is to ensure that it is formed in one-time processing, not secondary processing, so as to avoid secondary injury.

It is contradictory that the speed is fast and the power is low. The faster the speed is, the harder it is to cut through, and the smaller the power is, the harder it is to cut through. In between, we have to prioritize. According to my experience, speed is more important than low power. Try the fastest cutting speed with higher power. Of course, this needs to be tested to get the best value.

Of course, in addition to the influence of power and speed on blackening, now there is another very important factor, that is, blowing. When cutting wood, it is necessary to blow strongly. It is best to use a high-power air compressor, because another factor of blackening and yellowing is that the gas produced by cutting is blackened, and blowing can assist cutting, make cutting easier and prevent fire.

If you find that no matter how you cut it, it may be a material problem, and the glue content of the plywood will also be affected. It is also very important to find suitable materials.

Key points: under the condition of ensuring one-time cutting, use fast speed and low power, and use air compressor for auxiliary blowing.
