Mold Processing


Mold processing is the metal and non-metallic materials through different means of processing into complex structure, specifications of precision mold parts, and then these parts are precisely assembled together to form a variety of different functions of the mold, so as to achieve the purpose of processing substantial parts.


Mold machining process is mainly divided into processing technology, assembly process, mechanical precision adjustment, polishing and other four parts.


I. Processing technology


  1. Sheet metal processing: sheet metal processing is through the metal plate cutting, compression, grinding and other methods of processing the overall structure of the mold work, not only in the case of small thickness of the metal plate, processed into a complex mold, but also in the case of large thickness of the metal plate, processing out the fine cavity.


  2. Milling: milling is to mold parts and mold as a whole, complete side milling, face milling, mouth milling, deep hole milling and large prismatic holes and other types of milling process.   3. CNC machining: CNC machining is the use of CNC equipment processing mold parts of a class of technology, it can be, precise processing of key parts of the mold, so that the precision of the mold parts more accurate and reliable.


  4. Finishing: finishing is the use of fine machining process to achieve mold cost savings, improve mold accuracy of a class of processes. Commonly used diamond machining, high-speed cutting, low-speed cutting, double-sided grinding.


II. Assembly process


In the assembly process, we should correctly splice and adjust all the mold parts, so that the surface is in place, the proportion and location in accordance with the design requirements, to achieve the precision and integrity of the mold to ensure the quality of mold processing.


Third, mechanical precision adjustment


Mechanical precision adjustment is the use of special mechanical adjustment devices, as well as special precision inspection instruments, in the prescribed conditions, the mold parts of the width, thickness, porosity, convex bias, depth and other technical parameters of the precise adjustment adjustment to ensure that the mold machining accuracy up to standard.


Polishing


Polishing is to wipe the appropriate polishing paste on the surface layer of the mold, after fine polishing, so that the surface roughness is reduced, conducive to the mold surface lubrication, reduce friction resistance, while the impurities of the residue is also removed, in order to achieve a smooth and beautiful surface.

Finished product quality requirements.


  1. It should be in line with the requirements stipulated in the mold processing technology documents and the technical parameters in the drawings;


  2. High processing precision is required, it should be able to reach the specified processing precision, and there should be no extra indentation, bulge, burr, crack and other phenomena;


  3. Special technical requirements: the use of CNC machining technology, processing quality to meet high requirements;


  4. Workholding fixtures must have sufficient strength, and the margin should be appropriate;


  5. Tools are used correctly, return and make-up requirements;


  6. Material preparation requirements: the material should be in line with the specification requirements, there shall be no fault, deformation and other phenomena;


  7. Reliability requirements: processing parts should be able to work reliably and durable.


Operation points:


  1. Preparation: Requirements for the process, scale, equipment safety inspection;


  2. Processing points: require equipment safety checks, tool selection and return to make up the knife, wax injection to be operated in accordance with the requirements;


  3. Debugging points: to locate, adjust the test mold, observe the deformation, adjust the trimming, assessment of deformation size;


  4. Cleaning and testing points: to clean and test, check the model polishing situation, mold size accuracy.


Finishing steps:


  1. Polishing treatment: the surface of the mold can be smoothed and the hard film can be removed by the fixed grinding machine to meet the required surface roughness and finish;


  2. Mold surface repair: the mold plate surface burrs, cracks and other problems can be stretched, heat treatment and other treatment methods to improve the mold surface;


  3. Mould size repair: sometimes there are deviations in the size of the mold, the need for repair processing, can be used milling cutter, CNC drilling machine and other machine tools for processing;


  4. Inner surface processing: generally use machine tools to automatically process the inner surface to improve the surface finish and surface roughness;


  5. Overall structure dressing: mainly through the adjustment of the mold structure and filler position, the different mold structure will be adjusted and debugging, in order to improve the processing performance of the mold.


Precautions:


  1. Safety inspection should be carried out before processing to ensure the safety of the working environment;


  2. When operating, check the size according to the requirements of the drawings to ensure that the specifications are precise and there can be no excess indentation, bulge, burrs and other deviations;


  3. Mold due to the presence of leakage, processing should be cleaned in a timely manner, auxiliary tools should be used in accordance with the requirements;


  4. Mold processing can be based on different process requirements, take CNC processing, robot processing or integrated technology and other ways of processing;


  5. After the mold processing is completed, the processed parts should be checked to confirm that the external dimensions are qualified.
