How to Properly Maintain Machinery

  • If the engraving machine is in operation, it should be cleaned of dust and debris from the guide rails, racks, and lead screws at least once every three days, and guide rail oil should be applied (do not use grease).

  • Regularly clean the lead screw to prevent foreign objects from adhering to it. The lead screw is crucial in the equipment, as it determines the machine's precision and plays a vital role in the transmission process. After completing work, promptly clean the worktable to facilitate the next operation of the stone engraving machine. Remove material chips from the guide rails and surrounding areas to prevent machine jams caused by debris interference during operation.

  • After lubricating, move the machine slowly back and forth to ensure the lubricant is evenly distributed on the guide rails and lead screw.

  • If the machine remains unused for extended periods, perform periodic dry runs with lubrication to maintain transmission system flexibility. First, thoroughly clean the guide rails and lead screw using a lint-free cloth to remove oil residue and material debris. In colder temperatures, apply machine oil to both guide rails and lead screw, preferably using antifreeze-grade oil. The lubrication cycle is twice monthly, or every two weeks.

  • Regularly inspect dust and waterproofing functions. Check for wear on dust covers. If worn, water, silt, and dust may penetrate directly onto guideways and racks. If operations are not critically busy, immediately suspend use and contact the manufacturer to procure replacement dust covers.

  • During engraving, the cutting tool requires water for cooling. When adding water, direct the cooling water spray toward the cutting tool head, not the tool holder. Spraying toward the tool holder may cause water ingress and short-circuit the spindle.

  • Inspect the X and Y-axis belts for wear every six months. If significant wear is observed on the stone engraving machine, purchase replacement belts from the manufacturer.

  • Water in the stone engraving machine's circulation tank should be replaced every 2-3 days based on workload and sediment concentration to prevent clogging of the circulation pump.

  • When the machine is not in use and ambient temperatures are low, it is best to drain the water tank to prevent freezing and cracking of the tank and pipes.

  • Ensure the workshop temperature is maintained. Ideally, the stone engraving machine should operate at room temperature, or at least in a comfortable environment for operators. Verify that the lubricant used meets the specified temperature range, particularly the minimum temperature requirement. While temperature generally has minimal impact on the machine, neglecting to clean the lead screw grease during winter can cause startup failures. In extremely cold workshops, even with oil applied, freezing can occur, preventing the machine from running.
